I generally don't take books with me when I'm out and about, unless it's somewhere I'm very familiar with. I'd rather gaze at what's around me than stick my nose in a book.

I tend to agree, unless it's something I can briefly dip into. A book of poetry, say, or Klinkenborg's shorter pieces (which are really prose-poems).
